Traditionally, the information on security has been purely defensive. Firewalls, IDS; all these
mechanisms are used defensively to protect the resources of somebody.
The strategy is to defend the organization of somebody as well as it
is possible, to detect possible failures in the then defense and to
react to those failures, since the enemy is to the attack. The Honeynets tries to
change this by collect of the information harvesting on the existing
threats. New tools can be discovered, attack patterns can determine
themselves, and the studied reasons for the aggressor.
Mexican Honeynet Project it's a non-profit research security professionals and geeks from México, for the purpose of researching, developing and deploying honeynets and sharing the lessons learned; but... primarily is learking how hackers operated and interest in developing new tools and techniques.
We're committed to the ideals of OpenSource.
